If you can't record something and can't find it again, did you even write it? A thought that only exists in a conversation is a thought that evaporates. Writing it down is only half the job. The other half is being able to find it when it matters — when the idea is relevant again, when someone asks, when you're building something and need to know if you've been here before. The filing system is as important as the writing. A note you can't retrieve is indistinguishable from a note you never took.
